18th-Century Florentine Console Table | Antique Furniture

A grand palace console table, carved and gilt, with truncated pyramidal legs ending in ball feet. The legs are embellished with carved acanthus clusters that wrap around the tapered shafts. The uprights terminate in carved turned elements with a pronounced central constriction, joining the apron, which is decorated with small rosettes set within reserved panels.

The table apron is carved with an interlaced Greek key (meander) motif forming medallions. At the center, a reserved panel contains a painted classical profile rendered in ochre tones against a blue background, beneath which hangs a carved apron ornamented with acanthus leaves. The background of the apron is finely worked with burin engraving and framed by two elegant classical borders of repeating leaves.

The table is topped with a magnificent pietra serena slab veneered with Breccia Medicea marble.
