The Hospitality. Gio Ponti and Salvatore Saponaro, Milan 1925 ca.

Description:

White glazed earthenware depicting ‘Hospitality’ represented by a maiden carrying a tray with a chalice and bread, at her feet an arched architectural door. Under the base the green mark of the San Cristoforo manufactory, Milan, ‘Richard Ginori – made in Italy’. Production Gio Ponti (1891-1979) with Salvatore Saponaro (1888-1970).
Two examples are known to belong to the Civiche Raccolte Artistiche, at the Castello Sforzesco of Milan, one of which is painted in polychrome.
