Venice, late 18th century

The wider lower tier is embellished with pendants featuring flowers and bell-shaped ornaments, while an intricately crafted glass pinecone stands out at the centre.
The upper tier features glass elements resembling flower stalks, lending elegance and refinement to the composition.

These two pieces can be attributed to the production of a Milanese work
his chandelier belongs to the production known as “Ca’ Rezzonico”, which developed in the early 18th century.
This type of chandelier features an internal iron framework onto which numerous blown glass elements are fitted. These elements were individually crafted by master glassmakers, who created glass corollas designed to fit together, one within another.
In antique examples such as this one, the candleholders were originally designed to support candles. Subsequent electrification has resulted in some visible wiring, which is also a clear indication of the chandelier’s authenticity.
shop known as “Pel de Rava”, named after its distinctive marquetry. The broad bois de violette borders with rocaille outlines, resembling the skin of a peeled turnip, are the hallmark—the signature—of this workshop. Examples of its work are preserved at the Castello Sforzesco, and individual pieces occasionally appear on the market; finding a pair of corner cabinets is rather rare. They can be dated to around the 1760s and 1770s, when the Rococo taste, with its characteristic decorative motifs and asymmetrical inlays, reached its peak.
