Iconic ‘Elda’ model armchair, designed by Joe Colombo in 1963 and put into production for Comfort starting in 1965.
A seat that reflects the interest and curiosity of Space Age fashion typical of the years of the first space explorations and conquests, the Elda armchair – citing the Italian Design Repertoire – seems to come out of an interplanetary vehicle.
The shell-shaped structure and shell are in fiberglass made from a polyurethane mold, while the seat and back are covered with detachable cushions in black leather; the base, on the other hand, rotates 360°, which ensures maximum mobility for users.
Armchair exhibited at the “Museum of Modern Art” in New York and at the “Louvre” in Paris, Elda has also appeared in dozens of films, from the telefilm ‘Space: 1999’ to the Hollywood success ‘The Hunger Games’.
Dimensions: height 91cm, width 98cm, depth 96cm, seat height 40cm
