Historical Stylistic Analysis:

This particular side table can be attributed to the production of Maison Bagues, a successful Parisian firm active since 1860. In fact, a number of similar examples are known to have passed through the antiques market, united by their gilded bronze frame with leaf decorations, indicated as belonging to this production.
The peculiarity lies in the top, which is different in all known examples, often made using lacquered panels with chinoiserie taste, as in this case.
A small table from the same series decorates, in fact, the veranda of Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan, inserted according to a design by architect Tomaso Buzzi, who was responsible for the modernisation of the external parts and the furnishings of some of the rooms in the villa, which had been built only a few years earlier according to a design by Piero Portaluppi. The small table was in fact inserted by Buzzi, made with a red lacquered top decorated in chinoiserie, mounted inside a bronze frame decorated with laurel leaves. Our small table is quite similar, consisting of an identical gilded bronze frame, cast in high quality, and a top lacquered and painted in chinoiserie, albeit decorated with different ornaments.
