Louis Vuitton Malle de Voyage Personnalisées. Paris, Late 1940s

Description:

Louis Vuitton trunk dating from the late 1940s, restored to its original shape. It is a travel trunk of reduced dimensions compared to the standard ones, designed to be placed very practically in train carriages. The result of a special commission, carried out at the specific request of the first owner, this item could be defined as a kind of precious antique ‘hand luggage’ from the mid-twentieth century, equipped with the necessary capacity to cope with short journeys of no more than two or three days. Inside, it has a single compartment, organized for carrying underwear and clothes.
Upholstered in Monogram canvas, a fabric characterized by rosette and monogram (“LV”) motifs, designed in 1896 by Georges Vuitton, son of Louis. The hardware is brass, the locks and nails are branded, it features lozine trim. Interior fitted with canvas lining, wooden hangers and original label bearing the unique product number (809596).
Louis Vuitton trunks, iconic furnishing and collector’s items, are still durable and waterproof, examples of great craftsmanship.

Dimensions: 47 x 56 x 25 cm
