Louis Vuitton Lady’s High Trunk, Datable Between 1890 and circa 1910, Restored to Its Original Condition
This is a tall lady’s travel trunk, designed to be placed in train compartments and transatlantic ship holds. It was typically crafted to standard dimensions to accommodate transportation and storage requirements.
The interior may feature one or more compartments, arranged to suit the needs of travelers, both men and women. The exterior is covered in black carbonized fabric, with a centrally marked brass lock and brass studs. The edges and side handles are made of black-painted iron.
On the sides, red and white stripes along with the initials “A. C. N.” provide clues about the original owner. The interior includes two removable compartments with support straps, all covered in striped fabric. The lid underside is finished in satin with ecru ribbons forming a diamond pattern. The original label, alongside the serial number 136881, confirms the trunk’s era.
Louis Vuitton trunks, iconic collectible and decorative objects, remain durable and waterproof, testaments to master craftsmanship.
