Historical Stylistic Analysis:

The chandelier belongs to the so-called ‘column-shaped’ type, due to the similar shape of the central shaft here. This type represents a later evolutionary phase in the history of the chandelier than the architectural ‘pagoda’ type, known in some examples from the mid-18th century. The column model can however be attributed to the same century, being found in 18th century examples. This large salon chandelier represents a fine example of the historical and renowned art of glassmaking that flourished in the Venetian lagoon.
