Description:

Casket in Swedish porphyry, the faceted cylindrical body is equipped with a slightly rounded circular lid with spiral decorations. It has a cone-shaped gilded bronze grip and connected to the porphyry with a crown of laurel leaves.

Historical-stylistic analysis:

The casket belongs to the typically Swedish production of the Empire period, dating back to the early 19th century. Generally referred to as a butter box, other specimens are also known on the market, in porphyry too, with the grip of the lid in wrought and gilded bronze.
