The ensemble of furnishings, awarded the Grand Prix at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1900, stands as one of the highest expressions of Italian excellence at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The room includes a display cabinet, sofa, writing desk with chair, pedestal for a statue, and mirror โ works crafted in mahogany, enriched with brass and white brass inlays, floral marquetry in darkened mahogany, and mother-of-pearl inserts. These elements evoke Oriental influences seamlessly fused with the floral language of Liberty style.
Eugenio Quarti is remembered for โthe constructive mastery of the cabinetmaker and the exquisite refinement of the inlayerโ โ as noted by art historian Irene de Guttry โ but above all for his innovative approach, which anticipated the modern concept of interior design: no longer focused solely on individual furnishings, but on a holistic vision and aesthetic unity of the environment.
With the aim of highlighting this perspective, FineArt has partnered with Pictalab, a Milanese atelier specialized in interior decoration. For AMART, Pictalab has created an exclusive collection of wallpapers inspired by the marquetry of the furnishings, designed to create an immersive and harmonious installation.
The Quarti Room thus stands as an emblematic example of the synthesis between art, craftsmanship, and design, reaffirming the relevance and centrality of Eugenio Quartiโs design philosophy.
