Iconic sofa “with wings”, model D70 by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, designed in 1954.
Born as a sofa bed, the D70 has a mechanism that allows to open the sofa until it flips completely over.
The ‘D70’ has two revolving wings, a metal structure while the opening mechanism consists of a lever with fixing pin that engages with holes in a graduated plate; operated effortlessly via knob, it allows the backrest and seat to assume any angle and fold down to form a bed.
Presented for the first time at the X Triennale in 1954, it marks the direction taken by the newly formed Tecno, founded in 1953.
In excellent condition, remade in the padding and original Tecno fabric.
