Description:

Louis Vuitton trunk dating back to the transition between the 19th and 20th centuries, restored and brought back to its original conditions. It is a Malle à Chapeaux for women, that is, a light, simple and practical hat box created to transport hats without “Madame fearing they will be damaged upon arrival”.

Covered in Monogram tissè canvas, a fabric characterized by rosette and monogram motifs (“LV”), invented in 1896 by Georges Vuitton, son of Louis. The hardware is in brass, the locks and nails are marked, the finishes in leather and wood.
A black and white compass rose, placed on both short sides, represents the symbol chosen by the first owner as customization. Interior equipped with canvas lining, satin lining with ecru ribbons placed under the lid, upper container compartment, “ribbon cage”, i.e. a mobile container with a wooden frame on which a canvas ribbon is stretched, and original label bearing the unique product number (108635).

Louis Vuitton trunks, iconic furnishing and collectible objects, are still resistant and waterproof today, examples of great craftsmanship.
