Screen, England late 18th-early 19th century

Four-panel screen, covered on the front and back with eight canvases, painted in oil with oriental motifs on a black background. The subjects are repeated alternating human figures with birds, vegetation and pagodas. This technique is close to processing intended for wall coverings as was customary to do with embossed leathers as well. It can be thought that these canvases originally covered the walls of a Chinese cabinet, intended to house a collection of oriental porcelain.

Dimensions: 153 x 220 cm
